Question for planners
What was interesting was one reason the Bord Pleanála’ inspector cited for refusal — two terraced houses due for demolition in the application were listed as being of “regional importance” in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage.
How then did the city council planning department grant permission in the first place? Did the planners fail to check the inventory, or had they even heard of it?
If the residents of South Douglas Road had not objected, another piece of green belt would have disappeared in the name of ‘development’.
