Millions wasted trying to save dying language
Statistics from the Gaeltacht indicated that the language is dying out with only half the people there able to speak it, while only a quarter of all school-goers have some fluency.
Countless millions of euro are poured into Gaelscoileanna, road signage, books, legislation and massive sponsorship of Irish-speaking groups.
Many local councils have serious concerns about legislation forcing them to spend a sizeable proportion of their budget on Irish translation, maps and drawings.
If the leaked report is anyway near the truth, then all of it is just a scandalous waste of taxpayers’ money.
Another tribunal, anyone?
