Small things make a big festival impression

I WAS in Ballyheigue, Co Kerry, last weekend during the summer festival there. Its authenticity took me by surprise and delighted me.

Of course we had the usual big-ticket items for a festival — concerts and so on — but it was the plethora of other events that really impressed me.

The all-Ireland scissors-paper-rock competition attracted a great number of participants.
