Put a ticket on vehicles parked on footpaths

SURELY local authorities have a responsibility to the public to ensure they do not sustain injury when using footpaths.

Put a ticket on vehicles parked on footpaths

Whenever I visit my native Co Limerick I am amazed to see so many vehicles parked on footpaths, especially in towns and villages.

It is possible to solve this problem by sending traffic wardens to these areas and placing parking tickets on all vehicles left on footpaths, even in housing estates.

In the long run, this would save the county council money in compensation payouts. Pedestrians often have to walk on the road and risk being run over because the footpath is completely blocked by vehicles.

Imagine what it’s like for me with a baby in a buggy. Some vehicles leak oil and this can turn sections of footpaths into skating rinks.
