Gormley challenged on puppy farm legislation

Many will have seen on TV the appalling suffering of dogs taken from a puppy farm in Co Wicklow. Sadly, these conditions are not unique to one puppy farm as many dogs are incarcerated for life in these hell-holes throughout the country.

While the lucky ‘suitable’ puppies go to loving homes, the parent dogs live in cramped and often filthy conditions — their lives an endless cycle of reproduction so that unsuspecting families can have that cute pedigree puppy for a top price. The parent dogs are so overbred they eventually end up physically damaged or unable to accept any more litters due to exhaustion.
