Court sentence failed children

Court sentence failed children

According to your report (‘Scout leader promised boy a badge before sexual assault’, June 22), it is a system in which wealth — in this case the capacity to hand over €150,000 to his victim — allows a paedophile to escape a custodial sentence.

A nine-year-old boy was repeatedly and seriously sexually assaulted. The abuser was his scout leader, a man into whose care the boy was entrusted.
