Flynn deal is worth 9,493 TV licences

BEVERLEY FLYNN has settled her dispute with RTÉ over the costs of her failed libel action for approximately €1.3m, leaving the State-funded broadcaster at a loss of €1.5m out of their total costs of €2.8m.

This €1.5m is the equivalent of 9,493 TV licences, at €158 each, which is surprisingly close to the population of Castlebar.

It is important to count the cost of some of the insane antics our public representatives get up to, and as the residents of Castlebar go to renew their TV licences this year, I hope they realise exactly what they are paying for.
