Ban GM foods

IT was to be expected that the GM lobby would start a big PR push after recent events but, even by their lamentable standards, the article by Stephen Cadogan (Examiner Farming, June 21) was pretty disingenuous.

Ban GM foods

Banning GM foods will not cost Ireland €40m a year outside of PR fantasy. The truth of the matter is that banning GM foods will save Ireland. We are losing all our industrial jobs to cheaper economies and within a few years all we will have left is our farming .

As GM foods and high-quality foods cannot coexist because of wind-borne cross-contamination, our choice is simple: ban GM foods and we become the breadbasket of Europe; allow GM foods and we become the basket case of Europe.
