US-style sex education brings only misery
It is well known that such ‘education’ has brought an avalanche of teenage pregnancies and venereal diseases.
According to the liberal Guttmacher Institute, by 1993 one American in five was suffering from an incurable sexually transmitted disease.
This epidemic began in sex education classes where students were taught the myth of safe sex.
The situation is unfair to students since it promotes promiscuity among them, leaving the boys out of control, while the girls realise they are being used and abused, and indeed physically abandoned.
When these attitudes carry over into marriage they start cycles of human misery, as they lead to divorce and separation. And inevitably, the children suffer most.
It is also unfair to teachers.
Crude sex education breaks down the protective barriers that normally exist between teacher and students, so that teachers are tempted to cross sexual boundaries.
This is not an old wives’ tale, but a fact substantiated in several American studies. In a stressful occupation, teachers should not have to carry this extra burden.
Probably few parents in Ireland realise just how pornographic such ‘education’ can be.
Significantly, the sex education enthusiasts themselves try to conceal the true facts from parents, but American parents know enough to be opposed vehemently to these classes.
Unfortunately, they appear to be powerless to stop them.
It is one reason why parents in the US are now keeping more than one million children of primary school age at home, where they can be taught in a safe environment. Taking the broader view, exposing children to sex education without values is yet another step towards removing them from the influence of their parents and weakening the family.
Parents in Ireland can only hope that we learn from the mistakes of others.
