Flights of fancy

I RECEIVED an email from Aer Lingus promoting a seat sale, with fares from Cork to Britain from €1.

I went to book a flight to Manchester — €5 out on March 31 and €1 back on April 3. So, €6 plus taxes and handling fees of €69.81, giving a grand total of €75.81 — a long way from the suggested €2 (excluding taxes, etc).

For comparison purposes, I went to the BMI Baby website to see its best price for the same days of service. The flights cost was higher but taxes and charges were lower. BMI taxes came to €52.11 but Aer lingus was a whopping 22% higher at €63.81.
