Let’s not confine sporting glory to a few places

WHY a row on the merits of Cork and Limerick as the centre of Munster rugby at this propitious moment in the history of the game on the island as a whole (Irish Examiner letters, January 24/29)?

I see thousands of Cork supporters in Dublin most Septembers for the All-Ireland final and quite a lot at Lansdowne Road for an AIL final involving Cork Con. We all admire the fine sporting traditions of Cork. But surely there is room for the glory to be spread around and not confined, say, to Cork, Kerry and Kilkenny with the odd impertinent intrusion from Galway and Wexford, Armagh and Tyrone, not to say the Dubs themselves (at least in the good old days). In this matter I am firmly on the side of Limerick. Let’s hope the lads turn up in green tomorrow and on February 24.
