Not so funny: sign gave visitors serious doubts

THIS summer my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful eight days in Ireland. Our visit was the first to your beautiful country and we hope not the last.

I read with interest various comments on the expansion of Cork airport where, on arrival, we heard apologies for the disruption as well as expressions of disgust about cost overruns.

But I saw airport staff doing their best to make visitors welcome. However, the reception we received at a car hire company was far from satisfactory. I had to cancel the car we had pre-booked with them for a number of reasons.
