THE champagne corks may very well have popped at the opening of the new Cork Airport terminal yesterday, but local management may well have to bear the cost of the bubbly as well as the €160 million cost of the terminal.

It is ludicrous that as the new terminal was partially opened, the Government had still not made up its mind whether or not to renege on a commitment given three years ago that the airport would be debt free.

Then there was absolutely no doubt about the written guarantee. Now, there is nothing but doubt.
