Dáil Éireann is a dossers’ paradise for TDs

THE amount of time Dáil Éireann is suspended for holidays is a matter of concern. The so-called Easter break amounts to the full month of April, with many TDs absent from the chamber well beyond the official reopening.

To make matters worse, the Taoiseach and Tánaiste have failed to appear during sittings on crucial issues and leave matters to line ministers.

Many workers have to cancel their holidays and work double-shifts to pay off crippling mortgages. We have a part-time Government running a country which needs full-time attention.
