SOME of the media behaved like grumpy old grandaunts this week. When the happy couple decided not to invite them to the wedding, they turned up uninvited anyway. Cranky, narky and self-important, they then took offence when they were denied entry.

Other members of the media behaved like a certain type of pushy next-door neighbour, the type who assumes they have a God-given right to be on the wedding invite list and who, when it becomes clear that they are not to be included, go off in a huff to spread poison all around town knocking the event to all who will listen.

Even by silly season standards, the media lost the run of itself this August.
