REGINA Doherty said with commendable frankness on Sunday that “if nobody does anything, I don’t think this referendum will pass”. There is “a job of work” to be done she concluded.

From the get-go I didn’t believe the campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment was well set. There are opinion polls now to support that contention. It’s not that things weren’t going to tighten, it is that this is too tight too soon. And that’s just the poll numbers.
