Cork-based influencer under scrutiny after Meta smart glasses videos spark privacy debate

In April, a Cork-based Ukrainian influencer, Rendy Vlad, who has more than a million followers, hit the headlines after TikTok removed a video he recorded of a young woman’s medical emergency in Cork. 

The video was filmed using Meta smart glasses, a technology that has sparked privacy concerns for some time.

Since then, the Irish Examiner’s Emer Walsh has been following the activities of the MTU student closely, while people filmed by him in their workplaces have begun to speak out about their experiences.
