Cork traffic and weather: Dry and bright weather in store ahead of wind warning 

The wind warning for Cork and Kerry comes into effect at 1pm on Tuesday.

Dry and bright weather will dominate most of Monday with spells of sunshine and highs of 14C to 17C.

It will continue to stay dry later in the night with clear spells before it gets cloudier, with rain and drizzle expected in the southern parts toward morning. 

Tuesday will see a yellow warning for wind come into effect for Cork and Kerry at 1pm. 

Met Éireann has advised that possible impacts could include difficult travelling conditions, fallen trees and branches, and debris and lose objects being displaced. 

There may also be wave overtopping due to a combination of spring tides, surge and very strong onshore winds. 

The warning will stay in place until 9pm. Heavy rain is also expected with highs of around 20C. 

Traffic

The N28 is starting to see delays as of 7.15am between Harbour Heights and Carr's Hill. 

Elsewhere in the city, Dennehy's Cross is seeing delays, while the quays in the city centre are also seeing heavy traffic. 

Outlook

Wednesday will be blustery with sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy and thundery. 

Temperatures will sit between 15C and 18C. 

Winds will start to ease and turn drier on Wednesday night, with most of the showers becoming confined to the west, with plenty of clear spells. 

Thursday then will be dry for many with sunny spells and scattered showers. 

A spell of more persistent rain will move into the west later in the day with highs of 14C to 17C. 

Looking into Friday, Met Éireann says there is some uncertainty in the details, with outbreaks of rain currently likely to move in from the west. Highs of 14C to 18C are in store.
