Man seriously injured in Cork City as arrest made following assault

A man has been arrested following an alleged assault in Cork City, which left another man seriously injured.

The incident occurred in the Bakers Rd area on Monday, at approximately 12.20am.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Examiner that a man, aged in his 40s, was taken to the hospital. He has suffered serious injuries.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and conveyed to a Garda station in the city centre. 

He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
