Gardaí cordon in place after attempted ATM theft at Bank of Ireland in Little Island

Investigators are examining the scene after machinery was allegedly used in an attempt to remove a bank ATM

Gardaí are currently at the scene of an attempted burglary in Little Island.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night at a Bank of Ireland premises in the east Cork town.

It is understood that a telehandler was used in an attempt to remove an ATM attached to the bank premises.

Gardaí attended the scene and a cordon remains in place.

The incident comes just over a week after a JCB telehandler was used in an attempted ATM theft at a supermarket in Mallow, causing tens of thousands of euro worth of damage.
