Gardaí in Mallow, Co Cork are investigating a burglary in which a telehandler was used to break into a supermarket in the town overnight.

The vehicle was used to gain entry to Dano’s SuperValu in Ballydahin, Mallow, at approximately 1.30am.

A member of staff at the supermarket confirmed to the Irish Examiner on Tuesday morning that the break-in had occurred and said gardaí were at the scene.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said gardaí received a report of “an incident of burglary that occurred at a business premises in Mallow, Co Cork” at approximately 1.30am on Tuesday morning and that investigations are ongoing.

Earlier this year, following the closure of EuroGiant in Mallow, Dano’s SuperValu advertised 12 permanent part-time and full-time positions.
