Gardaí seek driver who left scene after fatal three-vehicle crash in Limerick

A man has died following a suspected hit-and-run collision in Co Limerick.

The collision, involving three vehicles, occurred on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West on Monday at approximately 11pm.

The passenger of the first car, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where autopsy will take place in due course. The coroner has been notified.

The driver of the first car left the scene on foot, and Gardaí are seeking to identify and locate this person.

"The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s were both treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries," said a Garda spokesperson.

The driver of the third car, a woman aged in her 60s, was also treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The N21 remains closed to traffic pending an examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam recordings, and who were travelling on the N21 from Newcastle West towards Abbeyfeale between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday, June 8, 2026, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
