Motorcyclist dies after colliding with pole in West Cork
Gardaí have asked anyone who was traveling in the area between 10.45am and 11.15am to contact them.
A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a pole in West Cork this morning.
Gardaí said the accident happened off the R591 road between Dunmanus and Barleycove at approximately 11am.
The rider, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken from the scene and a post-mortem will take place in due course.
The road off what is known locally as the Dunmanus Road/Coast Road to Barleycove remains closed to facilitate an examination by forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí have asked anyone who was traveling in the area between 10.45am and 11.15am to contact them and are also asking if anyone with camera footage can make it available.
