Unaccompanied learner driver caught speeding on four bald tyres in Co Kerry

An unaccompanied learner motorist was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Kerry, and issued with fixed charge notices for doing 126km/h in a 100km/h zone in a vehicle with four bald tyres.
Gardaí from the Kerry Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checks in the Kingdom on Thursday and stopped the vehicle after clocking it doing 26km/h over the 100km/h speed limit in the area.
In a post shared on the An Garda Síochána Kerry Facebook page, gardaí said the detected driver had also failed to display any L-plates.
After conducting a drug test on the man, gardaí found he had tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine. The officers later took a blood specimen from the motorist for analysis.
During a search of the man's vehicle, gardaí also uncovered and seized a quantity of suspected cannabis from within it.
The man was subsequently arrested for intoxicated driving and, according gardaí, he will shortly be issued "a number of fixed charge notices".
He also faces 12 months of disqualification, if convicted.
