A violent incident in Cork City where a group of men armed with bars, bats and slash hooks attacked a house and several parked cars has been condemned.

The incident occurred at Onslow Gardens, near Blackpool on the northside of the city and is understood to be an escalation of a feud between two families.

Gardaí said they received a report of an incident of criminal damage in the Onslow Garden area at around 9.45pm on Thursday.

"A domestic residence and a number of vehicles have been reported as damaged. Investigations are ongoing," said a spokesperson.

There are no reports of injuries and no arrests have been made at this time.

Cork North Central TD Ken O’Flynn said the serious public disorder saw the destruction of property and the "terrorising" of an otherwise peaceful neighbourhood.

"Innocent residents—men, women, and children—were caught in the middle of this madness. Several families have had their vehicles vandalised, their safety compromised, and their sense of community shattered. This is not just unacceptable; it is appalling," he said.

"This kind of violence has no place on our streets. It is both deeply disappointing and profoundly disturbing to witness such lawlessness take root in Cork’s northside."

Mr O'Flynn called for calm from all involved, saying: "Nothing justifies this sort of aggression, and it must stop before someone is seriously injured or killed.

"I urge those engaged in this feud to take a step back and consider the devastation they are bringing not only upon each other but upon the wider community."

The Independent Ireland TD said he would be raising the issue with gardaí and the justice minister "to ensure that an immediate and visible policing response is deployed".

"Our community deserves peace. Our streets deserve safety. And our residents deserve better."
