Man dies following machete attack in Cobh

The victim was seriously injured during the assault and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment where he was in a critical condition.
A man in his 30s has died in hospital following a machete attack in Cobh.
The incident happened at around 8.55pm on Friday in a car park on the Newton Road.
The victim was seriously injured during the assault and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment where he was in a critical condition.
It is understood a sword was used in the attack.
The man suffered severe slash injuries to his lower body during the course of the serious assault.
The man was bleeding profusely from deep wounds and was treated at the scene by onlookers, and soon afterwards by emergency medics and paramedics.
In an update on Tuesday afternoon, a garda spokesperson confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead.
An incident room has been established at Cobh Garda Station and a Senior Investigating Officer will be leading the investigation.
A Family Liaison Officer has also been appointed.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday which will determine the course of the investigation.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Newtown Road between 8:45pm and 9:15pm are asked to make this footage available to gardaí," a garda spokesperson said.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cobh Garda Station on 021 490 8530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station," the garda spokesperson added.
