Following Cillian Murphy's big win at last night's Oscars, it seems the whole internet has been celebrating the Cork man.

Of course, no one celebrated harder than Murphy's fellow Corkonians.

After all, he's a Cork man first and an Oscar winner second.

The Rebel County took to the internet in droves to celebrate their hometown hero.

For those who share a name with the new Oscar winner, there is a little something extra to celebrate.

There were some tongue-in-cheek references to one of the other big news stories of the day with people on social media doing their own occasional experiment with editing.

Fellow Irish actor, Chris O'Dowd definitely gets the prize for the most...unique tribute to Murphy.

In Britain — where people have repeatedly been warned on social media not to claim Murphy as their own — they also celebrated the Oppenheimer star.

Meanwhile, as Irish people do, people made sure to remind Murphy of his very green roots.

In his acceptance speech, Murphy took the chance to pay tribute to the "peace makers" around the world.  Fittingly, one Irish photographer has decided to sell prints of a photo he took of a young Murphy back in 1999. The prints will be sold in aid of UNRWA in Palestine, according to Paul MacCarthaigh.
