Man, 70s, killed in North Kerry farm accident named locally

A man who died in a farming accident at his home in Duagh, Co Kerry on Monday afternoon has been named locally.

Michael Carmody, of Trieneragh, Duagh was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed that he fell into a slurry pit on his farm.

Mr Carmody, aged in his 70s, is survived by his wife Margaret and sons Colm and Aengus.

His body has since been removed to University Hospital Kerry for a post-mortem examination.

The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) said they are aware of this incident and an investigation has been launched. 

Mr Carmody's funeral service will take place in St. Brigid's Church, Duagh, on Friday morning at 11.30 a.m, followed by burial afterwards in St. Michael's Cemetery, Listowel.
