Man dies after Cork city road traffic collision 

The man was removed to hospital under a garda escort.

A man, aged in his 50s, has died following a road traffic collision in Cork city.

The man was driving a car that collided with three parked vehicles on Wellington Road at 3.25pm on Friday.

It's believed he suffered a medical episode and lost control of the vehicle.

He was tended to at the scene by two members of the army who came upon the collision while travelling in an army ambulance.

They gave the driver CPR until the National Ambulance Service arrived at the scene.

He was removed to hospital under a garda escort but it's understood he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. 

Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
