Woman rescued after car goes off Kinsale pier

A woman has been taken to CUH with non-life-threatening injuries after a car was driven off a pier in Kinsale in County Cork just before midday.

It was low tide at the time and the car landed on mud and the woman was trapped inside.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the Pier Road, near Acton's Hotel, and managed to free her from the vehicle.

She was assessed at the scene by paramedics.

An investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
