Garda injured after patrol car rammed in Glanmire

A garda has been injured after a patrol car was rammed by a stolen vehicle in an industrial estate in Glanmire on Monday afternoon.

Two men have been arrested following the incident and are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Southern Region.

Gardaí confirmed they responded to reports of a stolen car at around 2.20pm in the area.

When officers arrived at the scene, the occupants of the vehicle rammed a Garda patrol car. A female garda was injured during the incident and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No other gardaí were injured during the incident.

The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Following a search of the area, the two adult men were arrested.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them. They are seeking anyone who was in the Glanmire industrial estate between 1.30pm and 3pm and who may have camera footage, including dashcam or mobile phone recordings.
