More than €500,000 worth of platinum was stolen from Stryker in Cork over a period of more than three years, and now the 40-year-old accused man has confessed to carrying out the crime.
Defence solicitor Shane Collins-Daly confirmed at Cork District Court the accused man was signing a plea of guilty to the charge against him.
On the application of Sergeant David Fleming, Judge David Waters sent the case forward for sentencing at the next sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on October 27.
Detective Garda David Hickey formally arrested Kamil Zelechowski, of The Mews, Elmbury, Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, at Cork District Court last month and charged him with the single count.
The charge states that: “Between January 1, 2022, and April 3, 2025, at Stryker Neurovascular, Model Farm Road, Cork, he did steal property, to wit, platinum to the value of €522,190, contrary to the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.”
Det Garda Hickey said there was no objection to bail being granted to the accused on conditions agreed with defence solicitor Shane Collins-Daly.
