A machete, cannabis, cocaine and a quantity of cash were seized in the course of an investigation into a drug-dealing incident in Cork City on St Patrick’s Day last year and now a young man has signed a plea of guilty to charges.
The signed pleas of guilty were entered by 22-year-old Niall Mullane of The Lawn, Westgrove, Donnybrook, Douglas, when he appeared at Cork District Court.
He admitted two counts of drug possession and two of having drugs for sale or supply. He also confessed to having a machete and money-laundering in respect of over €14,000 in cash.
All six charges brought against him by Garda Shane Hayes relate to a search following his arrest on March 17, 2025, at Bridewell garda station.
Defence solicitor, Eddie Burke, confirmed that signed pleas of guilty had been entered.
On the application of Sergeant John Kelleher, Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case for sentencing at the sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on April 27.
The defendant was remanded on bail to that date when he appeared at Cork District Court.
It is anticipated that full details will be given on the background circumstances which gave rise to the charges when the matter comes up for sentencing.
