A man whose home near Kinsale was searched on foot of a warrant admitted in court LSD and cannabis found at the property belonged to him.
Sergeant Eimear O’Connell told Bandon District Court a warrant was obtained to search the home of Daniel Hermanski, aged 45, in Haven Hill, Summercove, Co Cork. The search was carried out on May 1, 2024, at 5.15pm.
When gardaí arrived, Hermanski was not home but his wife was present and the search was conducted. The court was told cannabis valued at €100 and one LSD tab valued at €10 were found upstairs.
In a later interview, Hermanski admitted the drugs belonged to him. The court was told Hermanski’s previous convictions, other than road traffic-related, all arose from an incident earlier on the same day, which led to the warrant being issued for the search of the house.
Hermanski had already received a three-year suspended sentence in relation to the possession of cocaine for sale or supply valued at €2,500, the court was told. A number of other charges also arose from the same incident.
Defence solicitor Éamonn Fleming said Hermanski worked two jobs, in construction and as a personal trainer in order to support his daughter’s university studies in Dublin. He said Hermanski was paying rent for his own home in Cork and also for his daughter in Dublin.
Mr Fleming said at the time of the incident, Hermanski’s relationship with his wife had broken down and he had become involved in the sale or supply of drugs.
For the possession of cannabis, Judge Joanne Carroll admitted Hermanski to a probation bond for 18 months on condition he cooperates with the Probation Service. For the possession of LSD, he was convicted and fined €225 and allowed four months to pay the fine.
