Renewed appeal for witnesses as motorcyclist dies after Co Louth crash

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a man died following a collision in Co Louth.

The two-vehicle collision involving a van and a motorcycle happened at John St, Dublin Rd, Drogheda, shortly before 7.10am on Friday, August 29.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday, 31st August 2025," said a Garda spokesperson.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses to the crash to come forward. 

Road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in the area of the Bull Ring and John St between 7am and 7.10am on Friday are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 9874200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any garda station.

Gardaí said they are aware that footage of the incident is being circulated on online messaging platforms. Members of the public are strongly urged not to share this material out of respect for the deceased and his family.

Investigations are ongoing.
