An Bord Pleanála withdraws appeal leave application in Shannon LNG case

The proposed offshore gas storage facility planned for the North Kerry coast by Shannon LNG.

The proposed Shannon liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal is back on track after An Bord Pleanála withdrew moves to appeal a court ruling letting the project go ahead, after the board initially refused it planning permission.

The board’s withdrawal came after Mr Justice Richard Humphreys said he would make certain amendments to his September 2024 judgment overturning the planning refusal. The board’s refusal remains quashed.
