Cork woman accused of stealing over €4,000 from another woman's bank card

A 33-year-old woman was arrested on Friday and charged with 22 counts of theft following an investigation into the use of another woman’s bank card at various locations throughout Cork City over several months.

Totalling the amounts alleged stolen across the transactions detailed in the 22 charges, they make up over €4,000.

Roisin Treasa Keegan of Mount Brosna, Mayfield, Cork, made no reply to any of the charges put to her by Detective Garda John Barry. She was represented in Cork District Court by Eddie Burke, solicitor.

The theft charges refer to a number of premises, including Tolison’s garage on Old Youghal Road, Circle K on Blackrock Road, Mace at Mayfield shopping centre, AIB on 66 South Mall, Supervalu, Old Youghal Road, AIB at Blackpool retail park, Circle K on Lower Glanmire Road, Centra on Shandon Street, and Applegreen, North Ring Road, Ballyvolane.

The individual amounts vary from less than €10 to several hundred euro.

Bail

Det. Garda Barry said there was no objection to bail being granted to the accused woman. However, conditions were required.

The first requirement was to stay away from the injured party and any witnesses and not to have contact with them directly or indirectly and that included social media, Judge Mary Dorgan warned.

Other conditions require Ms Keegan to stay out of shops referred to in the charges, abstain from intoxicants and to provide a number at which she can be contacted by An Garda Síochána at all times.

The judge said it was a condition of bail in all cases that there would be no other offending.

On the application of Sergeant John Kelleher, Judge Dorgan adjourned the case until September 19 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

No details were given on the background investigation that gave rise to the 22 charges being brought against the accused.
