Two charges of deception against Cork woman Catherine O’Brien are awaiting direction from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, a court hearing has been told on Tuesday.

Ms O’Brien, 46, originally from Buttevant in Co Cork and with an address at 28 An Ghrianan, Ballinroad, Dungarvan, Co Waterford, appeared via video link at Clonmel district court this morning.

The court heard that the DPP’s direction is still being awaited on two charges of dishonest inducement offences.

It also was told that Ms O’Brien is due to appear in Waterford circuit court on Tuesday next, June 18, in respect of three other charges.

Judge Cephas Power agreed to adjourn the case before his court on Tuesday morning until Tuesday, June 25, at Clonmel district court.

The court also heard that Ms O’Brien had surrendered her travel documents as part of her bail conditions.

She was remanded in custody with consent to bail.

She did not speak during the short hearing.
