The former manager of the Stardust nightclub Eamon Butterly, before the jury began deliberations, mounted a High Court bid to bring a legal challenge which could have delayed the inquest verdict.

The case can now be reported following the returning of the verdict at the inquest into the deaths of 48 young people at the Stardust Nightclub on Valentine’s night in 1981.
