Man, 50s, arrested after €3.2m worth of cannabis seized from vehicle on M50

A man has been arrested after €3.2m worth of cannabis was seized from a car that was stopped and searched on the M50 on Wednesday.
As part of the ongoing Operation Tara, gardaí in Dublin intercepted the vehicle on the motorway in the Blanchardstown area at around 5pm.
During a search of the car, officers attached to the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) uncovered and seized more than 162kg of herbal cannabis.
The drugs, which have an estimated street value of €3.2m, have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The arrested man, who is in his 50s, is currently detained pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda station in the north Dublin area.
A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
