A woman arrested in connection with the murder of Michael Foley in Co Cork has been released without charge.

The 61-year-old was found dead at his home in Macroom 10 days ago.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested in Cork City on Wednesday and taken to Bandon Garda Station for questioning.

Gardaí will prepare a file for the Director of Public prosecutions.

A man, who is also in his 30s and was arrested on Wednesday, remains detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a garda station in Cork.

It is understood Mr Foley, father-of-four, had been dead for several days before he was discovered at his home at a sheltered housing complex at Barrett’s Place in Macroom.

An autopsy confirmed he had suffered a violent death including stab wounds and injuries to his head.
