A 37-year-old man accused of having a stash of cocaine at Carrigrohane on Tuesday, January 9, was arrested and brought before Cork District Court on Thursday.
Detective Garda Darren Twomey arrested John Heaphy, formerly of Barrack Street, Cork. He testified at Cork District Court that the accused man made no reply when arrested, charged and cautioned.
He was charged that on January 9 at Inchigaggin House, Carrigrohane, Cork, he had cocaine and that in respect of the same time and place he had cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply to others.
Sergeant Pat Lyons said there was no objection to the accused being remanded on bail. However, conditions were required.
Those conditions included that he would sign on at Togher garda station on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, provide a mobile number within 24 hours and be contactable at all times, and stay out of Cork city centre except for pre-arranged legal or medical appointments.
Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case against John Heaphy, who was represented on free legal aid by solicitor Diarmuid Kelleher, to February 29.
No details were given in court about the alleged seizure of cocaine that gave rise to the dealing and possession charges.
