GardaĂ are investigating an incident in Cork on Sunday which left three teens in hospital.

The assault occurred on Sunday evening in the Brooklodge Square area of Glanmire.

Three teenagers — a boy and two girls — were taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is believed that one of the young people was stabbed during the incident which involved a number of teenagers.

Glanmire-based independent councillor Ger Keohane said he and many other people living in the area were very shocked by what had happened.

“Unfortunately, incidents like this are becoming more commonplace in Irish society as a whole and they are becoming more violent by the day," he said.

"I am appealing for anybody who has information about what happened to talk to the gardaĂ."

Investigations are ongoing.
