Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man, 70s, dies in Meath crash

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the N51 in county Meath.

The incident, involving a singular vehicle, occurred shortly after 10.40am on Tuesday at Janeville in Slane.

The male driver, aged in his 70s, was treated at the scene and conveyed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.

He was subsequently pronounced dead later on Tuesday.

The coroner has been notified of the death.

The section of the N51 was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N51 near Janeville on Tuesday between 10.15am and 10.45am are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
