The national forecaster said this week will be warm or hot, with humid conditions for a time, and that rain can be expected in some parts of the country.

This Monday will be dry with any early mist and fog patches clearing to give a mix of cloud and sunny spells, turning hazy at times. 

The highest temperatures will range from 17C to 23C.

Most of Tuesday will be warm and dry, with spells of sunshine. 

According to the forecaster, it will be cloudier near the west coast with occasional patches of rain or drizzle. 

Highest temperatures will range from 20C to 27C, and it will be warmest in the east and midlands, with a light to moderate south to southeasterly breeze.

Meanwhile, Wednesday will bring spells of sunshine to the east and southeast with a few showers. 

It will be a warm or hot day with highest temperatures ranging from 20C to 28C, hottest in north Leinster, with light to moderate southerly breezes.

Thursday will be another warm or hot day with sunny spells and some further showers, especially in the west and northwest, turning heavy at times. 

Highest temperatures will be ranging from 20C to 29C, and the forecaster said it will be hottest again in Leinster, with light to moderate south to southwesterly breezes.

The forecaster said: "Current indications show a mostly settled but cooler end to the week with temperatures falling back close to average. Saturday next looks like a day of sunny spells and some scattered showers. Highs of 17C to 22C."
