Man in his 20s dies after single-car crash in north Dublin

The road was closed to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out a technical examination and was expected to reopen shortly.

A man in his 20s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in north Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The crash, involving a car, occurred on the R121 at The Ward, Finglas, at approximately 12.40am.

The driver was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown with serious injuries but was later pronounced dead.

A male passenger, also aged in his 20s, was brought to hospital as a precaution.

The local coroner has been notified.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward as investigations continue.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, and who were travelling on the R121 at The Ward between 11.50pm on Friday, May 29, and 12.40am on Saturday, May 30, are asked to make the footage available to investigating gardaí.
