'Northerly airflow' brings cool temperatures and mixed bank holiday weekend weather

Saturday night will be dry in most areas, but 'outbreaks of rain and drizzle will persist in the east and south-east'

Met Éireann is predicting mixed conditions for the bank holiday weekend, with temperatures being cool for this time of year "as a northerly airflow is established over the country"

Saturday night will be dry in most areas, but "outbreaks of rain and drizzle will persist in the east and south-east".

"There'll be a mix of cloud and clear spells at first, but areas of mist and fog will develop overnight."

Sunday will be "mostly cloudy" with outbreaks of rain and drizzle and patches of mist over the eastern half of the country.

Met Éireann said there will be "limited bright or sunny spells" with showers further west.

"Some of the showers will turn heavy in the south-west later, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms."

Temperatures will reach highs of 11C to 16C before falling to lows of 4C to 9C on Sunday night.

Bank Holiday Monday will be "generally cloudy with limited sunny spells".

Met Éireann said it will stay "mostly dry" apart from some patches of light rain or drizzle, with temperatures reaching highs of 11C to 14C.

Monday night again stay generally dry "apart from a few patches of light rain or drizzle mainly further north".

Tuesday will follow suit, with some patches of light rain or drizzle that will "gradually die out through the day with some bright spells developing from the north".

Meanwhile, Wednesday will be a generally dry day, but quite cloudy with just limited sunny spells. Temperatures on both days will reach highs of 13C.
