Man in his 60s dies in single-car crash in Co Galway

A man has died in a single-car crash in Co Galway on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 9.45am in Tyrur, Newbridge, near Ballinasloe.

The man, in his 60s and the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to the mortuary at Portiuncula University Hospital.

"No other injuries have been reported," a garda spokesperson said.

The road remains closed to allow gardaí carry out a technical examination.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and who were travelling in the area between 9.30am and 9.50am are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
