Man, 50s, dies after being hit by car in Kildare

A man in his 50s has died after being hit by a car in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident took place at around 5.25am in the Mylerstown area of Robertstown in Kildare.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body has since been moved to a hospital for a post mortem.

No other injuries have been reported.

The scene remains preserved for technical examination by garda forensics.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Anyone who was travelling in the area between 5:00 am and 5:45 am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available to investigating Gardaí.

A spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
