Four arrested in Midlands Prison assault probe

Four men have been arrested over an alleged prison assault last weekend.

Gardaí said they were investigating “all the circumstances” of an alleged assault at Midlands Prison on Saturday December 6.

On Friday, investigators with the Garda Serious Crime Unit arrested four men, all aged in their 20s and 30s, at the prison.

All four are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at stations in the east of the country.

Those arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act can be detained on the matter for up to 24 hours, excluding breaks.
